If you buy The Smurfs – Dreams during its launch period, you’ll get several goodies in addition to the game itself… all for the price of a single game! The teams at Microids and Ocellus Studio have been working on day-one editions as a special treat for their players: “It’s always nice to buy a game and get a few extras,” Marie Revelat, Head of Product Marketing at Microids, told us. “What’s more, the franchise is perfect for this, as fans love Smurfs collectibles.”
To start preparing this surprise for players, Marie and her coworkers got together at the beginning of the year to decide whether The Smurfs – Dreams would come simply as a standard version, or as a day-one or collector’s edition. Once the format had been chosen, the team thought about what goodies to offer with the game, exploring all the interesting and feasible options. “It’s a franchise for parents and kids, so we need to carefully consider what we’re going to offer,” Marie added. “We tried to add different bonuses that would please all ages.”
The content of the game’s day-one editions
So what’s in store for us in the launch editions of The Smurfs – Dreams? For PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, the “Dreamer Edition” will include the following in addition to the game:
- A 3D lenticular print, depicting our heroes in the dreams of the various Smurfs. Thanks to the superimposed images, you’ll get a great perception of depth as you shift your viewing angle.
- Three sets of stickers, representing characters, environments and enemies in the game. “Stickers are often popular because people can stick them wherever they like; it’s fun!” enthused Marie.
- The full soundtrack to download. Written by Valentin Lafort (The Smurfs – Mission Vileaf; Marsupilami – Hoobadventure), it includes both epic tracks and soothing tunes.
- A 50-page digital artbook, where you’ll find many sketches of the Smurfs, scenery, cinematics, and more, drawn by the talented artists at Ocellus Studio.
- An exclusive outfit to download for your character, in the style of a thief’s costume. “We thought it was quirky and funny; we’re not used to seeing Smurfs dressed like that,” Marie told us.
As you can see, several surprises await players who get their copy of The Smurfs – Dreams as soon as it’s released in stores! But that’s not all, because if you decide to buy the game on Steam, GOG or Epic Games Store, you can also get all the content in digital format (soundtrack, artbook and thief’s skin) with the “Deluxe Digital Edition”. “We were determined to make sure that people who prefer to buy digital copies of their games were not left out,” stated Marie.
